Architectural Photography for Build It Magazine

Build It Magazine showcases self-build projects, offering ideas for those thinking of building their own home. In 2017 they commissioned me for architectural photography of a property in Norwich. It was featured in their December 2017 edition. The home was designed by the architect who would later occupy it with his wife. It boasted some stunning features in its interior and exterior.

The sliding glass doors open out onto the patio and swimming pool. These and the many large windows bring a real connection between outdoor and indoor living. There are many beautiful architectural details, all of which contribute to a high quality finish. There is a feel of space inside, especially in the double height area.

The stairs have been designed to avoid intruding into the light, open space. The glass and the open space under the treads mean that they sit lightly within the home. The stairs and balcony provide stunning views filled with light.

Architectural photography needs to convey a sense of being in the building as well as picking up on design details. The owners were thrilled with how the images portrayed their home. Some pictures even encouraged them to explore new viewpoints! The images were processed to keep the light, airy feel whilst not losing detail in the highlights. As some of the architecture had a similar modern feel to that of the Centrum at Norwich Research Park, I decided to present the final images with a similar Photoshop treatment.
