I was recently commissioned by actor Gavin Bromley to create a new set of headshots for him. Professional headshots are a key part of an actor’s marketing and branding. These images will be representing them and playing a large part in attracting audition opportunities. So, Gavin was keen to have images that would help him secure specific types of acting roles in future.
We used hard light for some images and soft light for others. This is because, depending on the role and the production, TV and movie characters may be shot using different types of lighting to create the appropriate mood. So, we showed what Gavin would look like with both types of light so they don’t have to guess.
Simple changes of clothing also help to define themes and show some of Gavin’s flexibility. The retouching for each image was kept as natural as possible so that Gavin would be easily recognisable as the same person as his photo. An actor can save themselves and casting directors much embarrassment by making sure that the photos are current and accurate. You don’t want to fail an audition because you don’t look like the photo!
In addition to enhancing the mood of each image, we also styled them so that they would help Gavin to stand out from the crowd. If you are searching through a large number of images, having something that helps catch your eye is important.
I provide professional headshots for actors in the studio or on location. Please do get in touch if you would like images for your portfolio. I always take the time to understand what you want to achieve and will help create images that will do the job for you.
You don’t have to be an actor to have an image to suit your personal brand. Do take a look at my business portraits too and let me know if I can help you.
